REPLY TO LEE'S QUESTION You asked: "Could you please provide information or source of information with description and characteristics of Townships in the Ashanti region?"
As stated on the FAQ page, there are 104 townships in the Ashanti Region including Asiwa, Ejisu, Ejura, Juaben, Effiduase, Bomso, Obuasi, Akomadan,Tepa and Ofoase-Kokoben. All you have to do is to choose one of the 104 township and google it (i.e. search the Internet). For example, I can google Effiduase to see images and read information about the township. I can click on one of the hits, which is sekyereeast.ghanadistricts.gov.gh On this district website, I can then click on the menu such as Climate & Vegetation.
What role or emphasis is placed on the selection of a Township play in the jury review of submissions?
You do not have to choose a township to situated your design. You may create a house design that can be build in any town in the Ashanti Region. The jury will evaluate the design entries in line with the judging criteria:
(1) FUNCTIONALITY: Space patterns and usage, climatic performance, and sustainability over time;
(2) AESTHETICS: Visual / aesthetic appeal; and
(3) TECHNICAL: Adaptive / creative use of abundant local materials and labor to the degree they enhance the design, resource efficient construction process, and attention to scalability. Decisions of the jury will be final and binding.
